South Marietta Parkway Pedestrian Improvements

Marietta, Georgia
Client City of Marietta, Georgia
Scope Of Work Landscape Architecture, Traffic, Transportation
Schedule 2012-2015

Project Detail

This project includes improvement to approximately one mile of sidewalk along South Marietta Parkway from the Cobb Community Transit Transfer Station to the entrance of Southern Polytechnic College.

The project also includes a signalized pedestrian hybrid beacon (commonly known as a HAWK) to facilitate pedestrian crossing from a busy bus route transfer location to the CCT Transfer Station. The challenge was to discourage crossing at multiple locations and encourage crossing at the HAWK for safety. In order to ensure acceptable operation on the main street, this signal will be brought into the fiber interconnected signal communication system.
