Project Detail
Camp Lemonnier is a United States Naval Expeditionary Base situated in the country of Djibouti at the Ambouli International Airport and is the only permanent US Military base in Africa. As part a planned $1.4 billion expansion initiative, SEI was asked by Leo A. Daly Company to provide a base map of the site where a proposed medical and dental clinic is to be constructed. Surveying tasks of this project included recovering existing control and bringing that control to the site, as-built of all structures and utilities at the proposed site and establishing accurate elevations to produce contours at 0.5 foot intervals.
Obvious challenges exist when working on a project in a third world country on the other side of the world. Countless hours were spent planning travel, filling out paperwork, arranging for equipment arrival, etc. SEI field crews responded to the challenges and saw the project through to the end.
