Project Detail

The City of Sandy Springs worked with ARC and MARTA to program funding for a bus shelter project, specifically to install decorative bus shelters and other street furniture on Roswell Road (SR 9) between I-285 and Chaseland Road. This project included the relocation and consolidation of several stops, in addition to the construction of shelter pads in order to optimize the location in relation to users. To accomplish the multiple goals of the bus stop upgrades, SEI coordinated with multiple divisions within several agencies, including MARTA and GDOT, to ensure a successful route through construction.

This project included the development of decorative paver pads for the shelters, accommodation of trash receptacles, and landscaping, all while avoiding utility impacts. This project included the identification and replacement of several mistletoe crippled trees, while also improving the critical root zone of several heritage oaks planted by the Mayor and her father. These decorative bus shelters are part of a multi-pronged approach to provide a cohesive look for the Roswell Road Streetscape which focuses system users to the future City Center site.
